Mt. Massive, altitude 14,421 feet ...
Okay, perhaps I am being hard on myself, but I took
this picture of Mt. Massive while sitting in my car on Highway 24 in
Leadville. Heading out of town (towards Buena Vista), the massiveness
of Mt. Massive dwarfs over the highway and so I pulled over, stuck the
camera out the window and cha-ching! :)
Mt. Massive is the second tallest mountain in Colorado (alt. 14,421 feet), just twelve feet
below Mt. Elbert's summit. Mt. Massive is well-known as the 14er that has the largest land
area above 14,000 feet. If you're in town of Leadville on a clear day, Mt. Massive
is that stunning mountain overlooking town to the west. You can't miss it!
