An Excursion To Independence Pass And Points West In Pitkin County (Photos - June 23, 2007)

Independence Pass Kansas Kelly and Scott ("Scotott") picked me up early in Buena Vista for a driving excursion to Independence Pass and some scenic points west in Pitkin County, Colorado.

We arrived at Independence Pass and here's a nifty shot of Scott and I. I included this photo in my special collection of photos of friends at Independence Pass. ;)

Kansas Kelly Snow Angel Kelly was enthused about the snow and made a snow angel! :)

Redstone Coke Ovens We had lunch, walked all over the town and visited the historic Coke Ovens along the highway.
Kansas Kelly Kelly found a rock to bring home to her father.

Hays Creek Falls - After spending a few hours in Redstone, we drove just a few miles south to Hays Creek Falls, which is located near the highway.

    An Overlook Near McClure Pass

The adventure continued as we drove to McClure Pass. Somewhere near the pass was a clearing with grand views of the mountains in Gunnison County. Wowwee!

Our Second Visit To Independence Pass

Our return home was eventful. We stopped in Aspen and other points as we headed east towards Independence Pass. At the pass, we walked to the pedestrian overlook one last time for one last stint of photography.

I like this shot of Scott and Kelly!
Scotott A nice Rocky Mountain scenery shot with Scott included.
