In the summer of 2004, I did the loop trail
at Kite Lake, in which one can reach the summits of
three Colorado 14ers: Mt. Democrat, Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Bross. In the
adjacent photo, I had just begun my hike up Mt. Democrat and was
looking down towards Kite Lake, the starting point for the hike. |
 |
Near the summit of Mt. Democrat,
I was looking out towards the north and/or northwest with this view of the Rocky Mountains. |
 |
At the summit of Mt. Democrat, here is the view
looking back into the valley of Kite Lake that leads to the town of Alma. |
 |
Coming down Mt. Democrat and slowly climbing up the side
of Cameron Point, here's a great shot of Mt. Democrat. Notice all the "small people" slowly
trekking up Democrat. Cameron Point (sometimes referred to as Mt. Cameron) is
not considered an official 14er because it is connected to Mt. Lincoln and only
has a saddle of approximately 100 feet. The standard is an "up and down" of 300
feet to be considered a 14er in its own right. |

A shot of myself at the summit of Cameron Point,
with Mt. Bross in the background. |
 |
Somewhere along the short walk from Cameron Point
to the Mt. Lincoln summit, I got this stunning shot of Wheeler Lake below. |
 |
Being on Mt. Lincoln was very sentimental for me.
For I had the summit all to myself for a few minutes. (Took the photo via a timer.) |
 |
After resting on Mt. Bross for a bit, the final
descent from Mt. Bross has quite a lot of loose scree (i.e. loose, pebbly rocks) that often
felt like I was sliding down rocky marbles. Not fun! :p) You can see Kite Lake in the right side of the photo. |
