Amazing Colorado

Hartenstein Lake In Chaffee County, Colorado (Photos - June 5, 2007)

Mt. Princeton June 5, 2007 - I hiked from the Denny Creek Trailhead to Hartenstein Lake in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness. I begin this picture collection with a photo of Mt. Princeton taken somewhere along the trail past the "Y" turnoff for Mt. Yale.
Hartenstein Lake Sign The early morning sun reflected quite nicely on the Hartenstein Lake and Browns Pass junction sign. My original plan was to hike to Browns Pass, but as noted in the two photos below, there was way too much snow on the trail. Instead, I trekked over to Hartenstein Lake.

Snow on the trail

Like I said, I had planned to visit Browns Pass but there was simply way too much snow to get through on the trail. I'll most certainly return back when summer begins, for Browns Pass is on my list to visit for my Continental Divide web site. ;)

Two photos of the scenery as I hiked to Hartenstein Lake.
Hartenstein Lake There it is ... Hartenstein Lake! The lighting was horrible for this photo, I'll admit.
Mt. Yale It was definitely on the cloudy side for much of the hike (7 a.m. to 10 a.m.), but I managed to get this decent photo of Mt. Yale way out there in the background. I like it!
